Default Will new Pro Tools Studio License authorize 2018.12?

Perpetual licenses for the latest version of Pro Tools Studio are on sale this month. Will they authorize previous versions of Pro Tools? I still have Pro Tools 2018.12 installed on an older computer, and I am wondering if it will run with the latest Pro Tools Studio license.

My understanding is that, unless things have changed drastically lately, a current perpetual license wil work on versions back to PT12. A subscription on the other hand will ony work for recent versions. I have a perpetual license bought a couple of years ago, and I can see in ilok license manager that I can run PT versions all the way back to PT10 if I want.

My understanding is that a current license will authorize back to 12.6.

On renewals....

It’s been a while… In case you haven’t heard, Pro Tools is now Pro Tools Studio, providing a lot more power and capabilities for the same price. And you can now upgrade your existing Pro Tools 12 or later license to a Pro Tools Studio perpetual license in your Avid Account.

Even better, upgrade in June and save $100 USD*—that’s just $249 USD to get current, enabling you to…
Create huge mixes with 512 audio, 512 instrument, and 1,024 MIDI tracks
Get inspired with a massive suite of plugins, virtual instruments, and sounds
Mix music and audio in surround sound, Dolby Atmos®, and Ambisonics
Work with advanced editing and automation tools, including Clip Effects
Upgrade through your Avid Account* today and get all the latest features introduced since you last updated your Pro Tools. Plus, get access to all new releases, the Avid Complete Plugin Bundle, HEAT, and Standard support for one year.

All the extra features, Heat and plugins and so on will stop working if you don't renew the "update/support plan" within a year. Your perpetual license will work forever if you don't renew, but without the extras.

Not shure what the yearly renewal of update/support price is now, but basically it's a form of subscription.

This is the second time that Avid has offered sales on the perpetual renewal, and no one knows when/if it will come again.
