I have the same 5,1 without a metal GPU (on High Sierra) and I've stopped upgrading PT. Plan to to get a new Mac next year at some point.

Luckily I only attempted install on a macOS 10.13.6 Test Partition . . .
where the 2022.9 installer presents no problem actually installing, but the app afterwards has the "No Entry" overlay on the icon and cannot launch.
(Why Avid didn't just include an alert that it cannot be installed on this version of macOS is beyond me.)

It installs and launches fine on my 10.14.6 Test Partition, but the latest UADx plugins will not work on Mojave. UAD Connect actually tells you that they cannot be installed on that version of macOS - wow, what a concept !

I have not tested it yet on my other Mac Pro where I've got OpenCore partitions all the way up to Catalina, and I have not got into testing OpenCore with Big Sur or beyond just yet.
Looks like I'm gonna accelerate my migration of everything to my Mac Studio faster than I had originally planned.

This is good to know, thanks! Looks like 10.13.6 is a no go for 2022.9.

What video card are you using? How many monitors?

NVIDIA 960 GTX (even though it is metal capable) is incompatible with 10.14.6 so I had to downgrade back to 10.13.6. No upgrade drivers are planned... NVIDIA and Apple got into some kind of dispute.

Also, 10.14.6 puts the now defunct Digi MIDI I/O driver in the "Incompatible Folder" so MIDI input is not available via Avid MIDI I/O hardware. What are you using (if anything) for a MIDI interface?

And without Waves v14 all Waves plugs go to a grey screen. (I have mostly v9, v10, v11) Don't know if Waves v14 works with 10.13.6.

It's a tangled mess upgrading these 5,1 flashed cheese graters to 2022 capability. It seems Melodyne ARA in 2022.9 is a mess with bugs as well, it may not be worth it.

For me, Waves v14 would not work on 10.13.6. IIRC it would install when you ignore the warnings, but PT hangs on startup. Just needed it for a trial...

MIDI I/O works fine on 10.14.6 here. 2010 Mac Pro
