I can't believe people still have feelings about this. Don't yell at a hammer because you have to buy nails.

Indeed, I absolutely do not need PT. Discussion closed for my part.

When the "hammer" breaks, bends the nails, or it's hit and miss....then you have to change the hammer* that causes the issue and keep the same nails!

*assuming of course, that you know how to use the hammer in first place!

Cheers!

Have no idea what you are talking about. Protools is not broken. Is it for you?

Total broken, no, but broken in many areas in the form of bugs, that can be frustrating when working on a project. There are tons of posts with issues, that never get fixed or presented as a "feature".

Maybe your workflow is simplified enough that never have issues, fair enough. Maybe you don't use MIDI at all, or don't use sidechaining during mixing, etc... You get the drill...
Read other people's posts around here to find out a ton of issues, if you're interested.

But, the point of the previous post was not that, the point was that "the hammer" as you put it, could be the real culprit and change it might be better option in the end, since the "nails" are not the problem as it seems.

Cheers!

Just following the analogy, I prefer to buy a hammer, not to rent one!

I understand at times the manufacturer may offer upgrades or attachments for me to purchase to further the function of my hammer. I can choose opt in or not. Do I need the "super hammer" or am I happy with the one I have purchased?

I don't not understand paying for the hammer over and over and being forced to upgrade just to be able to use the hammer.

The current annual cost just to run Pro Tools vanilla has become untenable. For those with HD rigs it ludicrous for pretty much many recording studios.

I have made my system stable for each iteration of protools I go to. I stay on it. And work. Till I have to change. I use large VI templates. I use side chain during mix. I incorporate hardware inserts. All of it.

I am just not seeing the issue. I get my system stable and I work.

The latest change was setting up a 7.1. That went fine after some hiccups. Now I'm just working. Not worrying about stuff.

Random crashes is what usually happens with any system change but once it's fixed I lock the system down.

I also have always used hdx. And previous HD accel tdm. Never a fully native solution.
