CPU error 9173 when bouncing to MP3
Hiya PT community.
The Current Problem: When bouncing stereo track (10min) to MP3, I get this error message: Pro Tools ran out of CPU power. Try de-activating or removing Native plug-ins. -9173 After I close the error message and play the audio, the sound is distorted (kinda like the volume is being pushed over the limit) so I have to close/restart PT. The unusual thing is that when I'm bouncing the exact same file to .wav or .wav plus add to MP3 ticked it works perfectly. It's stupidly frustrating. My SYS: Mac Book Pro running OSX 10.10 (yosamite) on SSD. 8gig RAM. New fresh version of PT11.3 (installed 2wks ago) all the latest updates. What I've done so far: I removed all plugins (deleted from plugin folder) and loaded up PT with default ones. CPU monitor says no higher than 20%. I have 4 audio tracks with 1hr of audio on 3 tracks, and then cut sections from those on track 4 to bounce out. No more than 15min long. I've researched the recommended performance setup for PT and followed those guidelines. I've increased buffer, re-checked hardware playback setting. As it's new I haven't attached any external hardware audio interface so I've switched from using built in audio out and pt aggregate i/o. If you have any added thoughts on this, I would appreciate hearing from you. Many thanks Jamis |

Re: CPU error 9173 when bouncing to MP3
Hiya all,
Quick UPDATE: 11.3.1 update was released today and error 9173 for the moment has stopped. I will keep this thread going if I come across the same error in the near future. :) |

Re: CPU error 9173 when bouncing to MP3
Another Update:
After update, bouncing to MP3 still causes a CPU overload, however I worked out that by ticking 'OFFLINE' it quickly saved to MP3 without listening to the entire track. Forgive me if you already knew this but I'm a newbie so for me this was a 'alleluia' moment. So in the end, if 'offline' is not ticked, I can only bounce to .WAV, but with 'offline' ticked, I can bounce to any format. I hope this helps others. Cheers |
