BombFactory Pultec Bundle

I'm having massive CPU resources being taken up by the EQP-1A.
I instantiated 8 instances on stereo tracks. My CPU usage went from 1% to 79%. It eventually starts to fall to around 30% with fluctuations. Hmmmm....

I like these plugs. Been using them since they were on MAS in Digital Performer.

Tried all the usual troubleshooting stuff. I had been wondering why my setup was so bogged down lately. I'd started using the BombFactory stuff again as opposed to some other things.

Any ideas?

Man, I don't know what's going on but you could just use the Audiosuite version. Once you find the setting in RTAS, just save it as a preset and call it up Audiosuite and process the track and remove the insert. Meanwhile, what are you doing with it that you use so many. What I'm getting at is; say you put it on several things to boost high end, maybe your monitors are too dark? Or if you add the same treatment to a bunch of BGV tracks, maybe just bus them all to a stereo aux in insert a single instance of the EQ?

I was thinking that I might be using a lot too. LOL.

I generally setup my dummy sessions with about 8 Instrument, Stereo and Mono Audio tracks and instantiate EQP-1A and BF-2A on each track. It only seems to have gotten flaky in PT8. Or my mind may be going !!! LOL.

Previously I was using McDSP AC1, E4 and ML1000 (or CB4). So I have loaded PT8 with a lot of plugins. It just seems the EQP-1A is being difficult. Hmmmmmm......

Well...

I just pulled out a bunch of manuals (PDFs) and compared the DSP usages on HD Accel cards for the EQP-1A, McDSP stuff, EQIII and Dynamics III, etc.

(I'm running PTLE but I thought that the usage charts on the HD Accel cards may be useful for comparisons.)

It appears that the BombFactory EQP-1A is a resource hog from hell !!! LOL.

Can anybody else confirm that the EQP-1A is a resource hog on their machines? I'd appreciate the help.

More observations...

I opened a session with no VIs. It was quite happy as far as responsiveness. When I added VIs it bogged done immediately.

So it may very well be a processing issue dependent on VIs. Damn !!! LOL. I was hoping to run all this together simultaneously. Maybe I need to move to an 8 Core..........

Just Bounce all your VI's down to Audio and you should be good to go.

If you can post a plug-in version list, I likely can point out which plug-ins may be causing problems.

Which Mac are you on? Have you tried reducing the number of processors dedicated to RTAS in the playback engine by 1 less than the maximum available?

Running one processor (as opposed to two) usually works really well until EQP-1A is instantiated (Damn. LOL.). Even with VIs.

(I often run it this way as I sometimes use MainStage as a guitar processor, etc. on the same machine, for inputs into PT.)
