Reason rack coming to Pro Tools!

Great!!! I used to use Reason, but grew weary of the whole Re-Wire dance. When it goes AAX, I'll probably get it!!!

Humm ??? the website linked is kind of confusing. That link appears to be about the "Reason 11 Rack",,,,, is that only a plug in bundle that must be used in another DAW ? Is there still a Stand alone Reason DAW ?
OR are you actually getting and downloading the Reason DAW and in the download and the Rack plugin bundle will also download in usable formats for other DAWs ?

I admit I have not even looked at the Propellerhead website since version 8 (which is what I currently have and still use occasionally use stand alone, but mostly Rewired to PT )

You are way behind the times. Rewire is no longer used to link Reason with a daw; instead there's a Reason Rack that acts like a plugin in one's daw of choice. Originally only released in vst format as au format was released later. And now they're finally doing an aax version of the rack plugin.


Another major change that started in Reason 9.x I think was that Reason got the ability to host vst and au plugins when used standalone but not when Rewired and sadly not when the Reason Rack is used in a daw. There's been no real explanation for why that can't be done



And there's also been a name change for the company - it's no longer Propellerhead but Reason Studios.

Hey thanks, and yes I guess I am way behind

I see where I can upgrade for $249 for the Reason Rack Suite but again (sorry to be so dense) will that also allow me use Reason stand alone as it's own DAW which occasionally do ?

Yes it can be used standalone like always, and as a plugin (with some limitations)...

Finally our reason license will be used. Been sitting here unused since v10 and now we can update and maybe use it for once
