888/24 setup on mix system

I have an older MAC running MIX24. I had 2 882/20's running. I replaced my 2nd 882/20 with a 888/24. I have the cable from the mix fard card going into the main 882/20 and the 888/24. I connected the slave out on the 888/20 to slave in on the 888/24. Is there a test I'm missing? Or is there any way to do a hardware test? When I go to hardware setup, I select the 888/24 as my 2nd input. There is no error but I can't record anything with any of the inputs on the 888/24. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
