Default And the quest continues for a fully functional W7+PT8 system

After giving up getting protools 8 to work with windows 7 until the officials drivers were released, I was delighted to get protools working yesterday with the new windows 7 PT LE beta drivers.

So the debugging can begin:

Pro tools starts fine and I can play back audio/instruments, but every second time I press play the audio distorts. It sounds like a typical low buffersize thing, but increasing the buffersize doesn't help. On any setting combination in the playback engine the same happens: It will play fine one time and the next distorted...

HP DV7 (i7) 4GB ram, win 7 untimate 32, PT8.3, drivers v 804b

Any Ideas?

I just posted a topic about this, Mine worked fine the first day and then the next day whenever I play anything back it sounds totally distorted. When I actually plug in my guitsar and record it, it sounds fine. It is just playing back all distorted. Is your click track sounding distorted also?

I thought that 8.0.3 isn't compatible with windows 7.

I will give it a shot, but I expect the blue screen...

well, it didn't make any difference.
First the distortion was gone, but I noticed that the creative pack was gone after rolling back to 8.0.3, so I reinstalled the creative pack and the [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep] is back. (I am testing this with a session using a few air + instruments plug ins).

I removed the creative pack again and the distortion is gone.
I now installed Waves diamond 5.0 and with a few r-verbs running the distortions is back!!

I will play around a bit more to see if I see a clear pattern.

i have had the same problem. and i no what the problem is. its the 8.0.4b beta 64bit driver. unintall it and install the 8.0.3 driver and it will work. trust me also, it seems that PT 8.0, 8.0.1 and 8.0.3 works on my win7 ultimate 64bit with out problem.

Are you able to use the Creative pack and instruments that comes with PT8?
