Re: Ready to give up: Pops and click still, after upgraded HW and FW card
Hi Bill,
Fast question for you: Is your audio interface firewire as well? If it is and you have it and the firewire HD sharing a card (2 ports), that will cause the issue you are having. Just wondering |

Re: Ready to give up: Pops and click still, after upgraded HW and FW card
BelaDMedia,
Yes, that's my situation. One FW card (2 external ports). I have 2 FW drives and one FW interface all hanging off that one card. I tested various connection chains and nothing helped. With a USB interface it works fine. Are you saying that this is not a valid config (that seems odd to me)? Are you saying that adding a second FW card might solve the problem? IF so, what should be connected to it? I am worried that a second card might raise other conflicts |

I would recommend that also. Seperate each device onto its own Firewire controller.

Re: Ready to give up: Pops and click still, after upgraded HW and FW card
I had a spare FW card lying around so I stuck it in the machine, reinstalled the M-Audio FW 410 drivers, and ran quick test...
No pops or click while recording !! I now have the M-Audio interface on one FW card and the two drives chained together on the 2nd card. That seems (so far at least) to also have solved the problem. Wow. |

Re: Ready to give up: Pops and click still, after upgraded HW and FW card
Glad my tip helped you, Bill. I had the same issue with the MAudio Project Mix and an FW Glyph HD. I was sharing a card. I now have a card for each and no more pops, crackles and etc.
