Default Monitors: $1500-$1800 budget . Which Active Monitors? Suggestions and Help Please.

I was thinking of picking up a pair of active monitors: Genelec 1030A , Dynaudio BM6A or possibly the Adam P-11. I'm swaying toward the Dynaudio. I don't need bigger than a 6.5 - 7".

Do you guys have other suggestions in the $1500-$1800 price range? I do mostly acoustic mixing and mastering.

Thanks all!

I would go for the genelec 1031 or dynaudio BM 15 , I paid my dynaudio BM 15 2100 euros and they are really good. If you do acoustics, probaly genelec will suit you better, but they are more expensive...

i have the genelec 1030A's and love them. they have a great, clear sound. i've never heard the dynaudioacoustics, but my vendor contact at Pro Audio Design (PAD):

http://www.proaudiodesign.com

says that he like them better than the genelecs. if you want to compare prices, call dave malekpour at PAD and tell him i told youto call.

Lance, thanks for the connect!

bb, no sub for me. I only need a 6.5 or 7". The V8 were way TOO much for me, I couldn't even image them with a sub in my small room.

Any other Dynaudio or ADAM P-11 users here or other recommendations?

I just upgraded from KRK V8 to Dynaudio BM6A. A major improvement. The Dynaudios are much more detailed and a very balanced. Suddenly the bass is clear and I wonder how I could ever mix on my V8. To my surprise they are actually louder than the V8. Go ahead, you won't regret it.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Do yourself a favor and try the Blue Sky 2.1 system. They're less money, and at least as good and probably better than the monitors you mentioned. I know they're better than the Genelecs. Go to http://www.abluesky.com

Listen to a pair of JBL LSR28P before making up your mind - a lot of folks (including me) find these a great alternative to the somewhat bright 1031s.

The ADAMs has created a lot of buzz lately. I haven't heard them myself, but if I were in the market for new monitor speakers, I'd certainly give them a listen.
