Re: Crash Upon Closing Session
Try starting a new session and bringing in the tracks one by one and closing the session after each track. I had to do this and I put it down to a corrupt audio file. Once it crashes, you at least have a ball park as to what track/files might be at fault - consolidate that track to one new file and reimport and you should be ok. Its time consuming but worked for me.

Re: Crash Upon Closing Session
I get that a lot (in many sessions) and I always have to re-boot from cold. Other times (the same sessions) PT does not crash. I have no idea why this happens but I have a feeling that is related to how close to crashing due to "PT critically low on memory" one gets before the session is closed. So, if you are working and getting very close to "PT critically low on memory" (of course the user does not know that is getting very close to low memory) and close the session PT will crash. But if you just open the session, work a bit on it, and the close it, PT usually will not crash. At least this is how I am seeing here.

Re: Crash Upon Closing Session
Hi Garnoil
You may have hit the nail on the head - my HD3 was maxed out and huffing and puffing with this 5.1 session. Can one affect the memory or is this stuck at the 2Gb limit until the doom of Pt11? (I say doom as it may mean new desk and hardware too for me). Adding more ram won't help nor will having a Kray supercomputer then either? cheers

Re: Crash Upon Closing Session
We have to wait for PT11 to get rid of this problem. In my current project we are working on a HDX3 and have to split the movie into reels, because PT cannot cope memorywise with such an amount of tracks and automation over the length of the movie. HDX3 definitely needs PT11 to show its capabilities. For now the hardware is much more potent then the software is able to deal with.

Re: Crash Upon Closing Session
I had some problem with this, but now I use "free memory". It's cheap in the mac appstore and does a fantastic job.
I bought it when I noticed that sometimes Pro Tools forget to empty the "garbage" after the job. I'm not sure if this is your problem, but it seems that I have no problem since then.

Re: Crash Upon Closing Session
This problem is intermittent and hard to pin down
Freemem - whilst a nice app and usefull, does not solve the problem. It seems to be session related and to do with freeing the last dsp chip? Cheers
