OMF/AAF Export Woes (region Names)
Hi all,
Tried searching the forums for the answer, but to no avail.... What am I doing wrong? I have an AAF I import to tools, with all corresponding Track/region names correct... However, I need to import to logic, thus using the OMF/AAF export option. Why does it export regions using ambiguous names? Is there a way to keep original region names in place? Really doing my head in... Thanks in advance. PS. I must add I get an error with the AAF with logic, thus the long winded approach. |

Re: OMF/AAF Export Woes (region Names)
Back in Logic 6 and 7 I tried OMF import and it didn't work well. Typically we go from Logic to Pro Tools and not the other way. But in both cases we simply consolidate all regions into "flat files" with a common starting point. Crude, but reliable and effective.
Why do you need to work in Logic? |

Re: OMF/AAF Export Woes (region Names)
All my channel Strip/template settings for this project are in logic...
The problem isnt OMF import, I've done it with other sessions. The problem is under final cut it had the omf 2 g limit problem. So installed the Automattic Duck plug in (now free) and was exported as AAF.... Loads into protools, (not Logic nor Soundtrack pro as there is an error) with all correct info.. The problem is when exporting from tools as OMF/AAF it gives the regions ridiculous , unrelated names... Is there something i'm missing? or is it making it hard because it can ? |

Re: OMF/AAF Export Woes (region Names)
not sure whats happening there. i've been making and recieving OMF's A LOT, and the only 'problem' i've found is when i consolidate a region, it names it the track #, but DUPLICATE keeps the region name....my OMF's that are sent to the DFC/Audiofile mix stage seem to be ok,name wise, other than the silly sound quality thing i'm still trying to resolve.....

Re: OMF/AAF Export Woes (region Names)
Get around this by exporting only certain tracks and creating 2 (or more) OMF's. For instance, in FCP, export tracks 1-6 as OMF 1. Export tracks 7-12 as OMF 2. (adjust as needed). Then you can import directly into Logic.

Re: OMF/AAF Export Woes (region Names)
For example, renames regions such as "Host2#01.wav_10-01" to EP5 PT "1byzdHSZVbbdsCCVW"
Very cryptic... I know I can consolidate and export as a track, really want to keep the edit/handles... |

Horizontally cutting the Session in half will keep it under 2gb. If not split it in three

Thanks everyone for your input...
I know the way to work around it in the future... Still a pain though. |
