Default ilok problem with PT9

I downloaded the software (full), read about the new drivers, and downloaded those, and now when I try to load PT9 on my ilok at www.ilok.com, I get a message that I have a active-x problem, and that my ilok isnt recognized. I have tried unplugging the ilok and using a differnt USB port, and W7 recognizes the ilok. If I click on the PT9 icon on my desktop, nothing happens. I assume it's because I haven't loaded the ilok with PT9. Any suggestions? I am going to try plugging my ilok into my laptop and down load PT9 that way.

Bonjour,

Check your DEP settings to ensure they are not inadvertently blocking this.

Bonne chance !

They were :) I was able to get the license onto my ilok via my laptop, and the DEP was also giving me a error message when I was attempting to install PT 9. I have turned it off, and I am trying to install, for the 3rd time. My previous installations what put the icon on my desktop, but when i tried to start the program....nothing...hopefully, 3rd times a charm. BTW, I set the DEP as per one of the PT "optimization" vids, and that is apparently whats causing the problem. The error message is something like "windows registration server can't be accessed". I went in and reset DEP to default, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. It would be nice if AVID had some in-depth installation instructions somewhere.

ok..now, I actually got the software to open, but it didn't recognize my 003R, and i had already downloaded the new drivers from the AVID link. So, I ran the driver install again...restarted the computer, clicked on the PT9 icon, and....now I get a message saying it won't start because i need the newest ilok drivers, which i had already installed...so, i installed again...same message..this is getting really, really frustrating. The one time PT9 DID open, it recognized my POD HD300 as a interface, but not the 003R. I have downloaded and restarted a bunch of times...any ideas? I get the message that i need the newest ilok drivers, every time I try to start PT9

Try this:
  • Run the Pro Tools Uninstaller (it should have come with your upgrade)
  • select a clean uninstall (everything)
  • restart
  • install the new drivers
  • restart
  • install the new version of Pro Tools
  • restart

Let us know how that works out.

I'm not sure how or why, but problem solved. I deleted the drivers for both the ilok and the 003R, via control panel, reloaded drivers, restarted, and now...everything works.

I am having the same problem.

Windows 7 and 003R

I have installed and unistalled all drivers and the PT9 software and continue to get the error regarding PACE drivers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try uninstalling the drivers via "devices and printers" Click on start, click on devices and printers, right click on the 003r icon, select "properties", then the hardware tab. click on "properties", then "change settings". a new box will open, click on the driver tab, then click "uninstall. Follow this same process for the ilok. then reinstall the drivers. this seemed to be the solution for me.
