Default Pro Tools processing at 3db lower

Hi all

I've just started at a new company, and there's an issue with the main Pro Tools suite, where the programme is processing the audio 3db lower than it should be.

For example if I import a reference tone which has been exported at -18 db, it will play out at -21 db.
And if the clip is bounced down from Pro Tools, and then re-imported into the session, it will then play out at -24 db.

I've checked the preferences etc within Pro Tools and nothing is abnormal, and if I play the clip via Premiere for example on the same computer, the original clip will play at -18 db as it is supposed to.

Any feedback or ideas would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,
JJ

Have you tried different Pan Laws?

Thanks for the reply Drew

So on Nugen for example it's showing the "True Peak" to be at -18db for the individual channel, but the other stereo channel on Nugen, and the master channel it's being sent to are both reading -21db.

However when I change the pan db in session settings to -2.5 or -6 for example it doesn't change the true peak or live peak at all.

Panning it extreme left or right does...

It's weird I don't want to necessarily by pass the -3 db panning setting (if I could), but we need to use the Nugen on the Master AUX stereo Channel, which is currently reading and exporting -3 db assumedly because of the -3 db panning settings, it's kind of a downward spiral in that sense

Hi, welcome to the community.

It is exactly what a pan law is and works as it should
