Point taken re: old idea though. Personally I just get really frustrated having, say, some hihats at the top of the pano roll and still others at the bottom. Really painful to edit. Maybe it's just me. |

It would be super nice if I never ever had to see this message again.

Sorry, but I think those times are over ... there´s no difference anymore in working with audio and midi and every daw that ignores this will disappear over the time. problem: avid seems to be the only company to ignore this

Re: In what area is Pro Tools REALLY lacking??
It's fair to say Cubase started off as a MIDI sequencer. It's also fair to say PT started off as a 2-track sound editor. Both have evolved, and the feature sets of the two overlap so much today that they both fit into the general category of DAW products. Saying PT shouldn't focus on MIDI only means it will fall further and further behind it's competitors.
The OP asked what you can do in other products that you can't do in PT. After seven pages (and counting) of replies it's obvious that the answer is "quite a bit". And it's obvious MIDI is one of the areas PT has lagged, but there are a ton of workflow features that are lacking as well. |

Glad it’s not just me that finds it a drag. Particularly annoying when the plug-in has automation you also want to copy over...
