Default Do you mix through Cranesong Phoenix? Why and how?

I have been using the Cranesong Phoenix TDM plug-in on individual tracks and I love it. I have heard others talk about mixing through it on the 2-bus and have been thinking about it. I typically mix through Analog Channel.

Do you mix through the Phoenix? Why?

Then, what settings do you typically use and on what types of music?

Thanks,

Mixing rule XXVII b, paragraph 4, is pretty clear about this: “Thou shalt employ Phoenix on the mix bus or suffer eternal aural damnation.”

Seriously, there are times when I do, and others when I don’t. I let my ears tell me whether it’s appropriate. The same goes for the choice of which specific Phoenix flavor gets used and what its settings should be.

If there has to be a rule, let it be that the above applies to any and all plug-ins.

IHTH.

Usually.

Why?

Because usually it sounds better than without it.

I usually take the scientific coefficient of enie-menie-minie-mo.
If that doesn't work I use rock-paper-scissors.

No problem.

I use Phoenix more on the 2 bus than individual tracks although I almost always use it on voice.
Why?
It adds what I need it to add. I don't have AC or I might use it or mix and match with Phoenix.
What ever it takes to get the sound you are looking for. And that's the trick if there is one. Is to get the sound you hear in your head to come out of your monitors. Assuming that the sound in your head is the money.
As for the different versions of Phoenix? I wish you did not have to go to a totally new plug-in to audition a different timbre.
The literature has some descriptions of the various timbres of each. I start with that.
