Need help importing Final Cut 5 audio w/automation
The problem I am facing is that Final Cut 5 exports the OMF with completely unaffected tracks (no level automation or fades). I have been reading that with Final Cut you can also export the audio via XML, but Pro Tools does not understand the file. I did find a piece of software, XML Pro that will basically translate the XML so Pro Tools understands the file, but the software is $899.00. So I was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem and found a solution.

Re: Need help importing Final Cut 5 audio w/automation
I think you have found the solution. The OMF issue is a known and oft complained about issue. It's partly apple and partly that OMF is sort of a bare bones "standard" that doesn't require automation to be either exported or imported. THere are DAW's that won't import automation data in OMF's also.
