Digi001 - ASIO6.1.1 - CubaseSX

Just bought a Digi001 to use initially with Cubase SX with a view to getting into Protools without burning all my bridges. I've installed the ASIO 6.1.1 driver but Cubase keeps crashing or refusing to open the control panel. (Tried SX1.01 & 2.0)
The PC uses an Athlon TBird 1.4 /ABIT KG7 RAID (AMD761 and VIA 686B chipset -raid is not enabled)/Matrox 450/ 0.5 gig memory/30 & 40G Matrox HDs. Windows XP.
Can anyone tell me where I might be going wrong?

I use a digi 002 rack with sx 1.06 and it works.I think you must have installed also pro tools to make it work but i'm not sure.Maybe digi 001 is not compartible with t bird.Sx 2 doesn't work 100% with my digi 002r but 1.06 works.I believe in the past some tried to make it work with just the asio driver but with no great luck.Do you have also pro tools installed?

that's your problem. in my case (Gigabyte GA-7DX), cubase would run, then it would lock up or sound would just cease. when i upgraded to kt600 chipset, all the problems went away.

Have just seen this in Known Incompatibilities;
Computers with motherboards containing mixed chipsets from AMD plus VIA combined

i stuck with gigabyte - GA7VT600-1394. works like a charm. PT has never been more stable or powerful.

Asus is also very good.A7V600 for athlon

Thanks for the advice, I got a Gigabyte board & all appears well. In fact the who machine feels faster & runs with less oddness. Cheers!

Arrggghh. Just started recording with Cubase SX2.0 and getting all kinds of nasty clicky glitching going on. Any Ideas?

try raising the buffer size.

Thanks, but excuse my ignorance, which buffer setting are you referring to?
