random characters when typing plugin name into search box 2021.10

When I type the name of a plugin into the search box the characters are often all jumbled/random. Has this happened to anyone or can you think of a possible cause?



I'm on MacOS 11.6
Pro Tools 2021.10

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It doesn't always happen, and I can't figure out what triggers it.

I've had no luck trying to figure out why it's happening. Can't just be us, right? I'll post back if I find a solution!

I see strange characters on 2021.10.0 on macOS 11.6 (Big Sur). It only seems to happen to me on the first character I enter in the search field after clicking on a new insert. And if I keep typing the characters all get sorted out. [edit: removed incorrect observation after more testing].

But I don't get strings of bad characters only the first one is bad and then it corrects as I type addition characters. Weird.

It's really strange because it seems random for me. Today I can't make it happen, even on the same words that made it happen yesterday.

I was curious and spent more time playing with this. I moved all plugins out of the plugin folder, trashed all prefs and I still get the behavior with the first letter that I type into insert search... field sometimes being corrupted (a significant fraction of the time maybe somewhere around one quarter of the time?)

It does not seem to matter which first letter I type, I can get the first displayed letter mess I described before, but always if I keep typing other letters the display corrects itself. So that's different than others describe. And it's seems to be trying to search for the letter I typed not the garbled letter that is being shown.

I've also seen more behavior where sometimes the search list displayed is missing the first item. Like if I bring up search and type just the letter "a" then the normal first item in the list shown should be "Autopan (Mono/Stereo)" but at different times that item is just missing and the list starts with "ACDC Tapping (Synth Lead Hard)". This seems to be independent of whether the first letter is corrupted, so seems like there are multiple issues with this whole thang.

Again Big Sur 11.6 running Pro Tools Standard 2021.10.0

I have same issue, they appear and after a couple of seconds i press another key and the correct name shows.. cant find the solution
