Default This is such a bad thing...

This is terrible / News clip

This is the kind of stuff that makes my sick.

How could THEY do this to THEM, and how could THEM do this to US.
(No, thats not proper English, but it helps get my point accross).

INXS is a respectable band. I like thier originality, I like thier style, and they wrote great music. Then, for whatever reason, Michael Hutchence suicides. The band is nothing without Michael. As most bands lose thier most valuable asset when the singer dies or quits...

This idea of having a reality show to select the NEW Michael Hutchence is just heresy at the least.
I cant believe the band would do this; this was thier idea...

sheesh.. .

It drives me up the wall.. /

Please tell me I am not crazy for thinking this.

Thoughts?

=-Ben

Yeah, the rest of the band ought to just commit suicide too. Since the "best asset" of the band is gone, the rest of them ought not make any attempt at a career. They should just disappear. How disrespectful and ungenuine it would be for them to try and make it without him.

I can't stand "reality shows" myself. There seems to be very little reality associated with them. But if INXS wants to use this vehicle to find a singer I don't see anything wrong with it.

Mike

PS. Anyone who commits suicide deserves to be dead, and unless they were suffering from insufferable and incurable diseases, they deserve no respect from me.

I just dont think a game show should be used to determine a singer, and I dont think its attempt to survive without him and make a career, I think its a publicity stunt.

And how does a Rock band survive without publicity?
Nothing wrong with a good publicity stunt now and then...

I agree. it might be tacky, but in the end who really cares anyway? its not like we're all drinking buddies with the band or anything like that...

I rather feel sorry for them. I was an INXS fan during their early years... a big fan.

Why these guys kill themselves is beyond me, but his voice was integral in the band, so without him they just fell apart.
They had Terrence Trent D'Arby fronting and no one paid any attention. They are just trying desparatly to hang on.

lol- i thought about trying out for it

Hey, I could do it! pbpbpbpbp

I agree, the "contest" to get a singer is lame but, I believe Andrew Farriss was the main songwriter in the group (correct me if I'm wrong). Yes Michael was the front man with the great voice but without a great song to sing.................

agreed, a bad thing.

RE: PS. Anyone who commits suicide deserves to be dead, and unless they were suffering from insufferable and incurable diseases, they deserve no respect from me.

Please be careful with such statements. This is a crass generaliztion that is quite dangerous. This is the kind of thought process that prevents people from fully understanding and treating the underlying problem.

The overwhelming majority of suicides involve psychological disorders. I think it is safe to say that very few rational people simply decide to kill themselves for no apparent reason.

Nobody, least of all you reading this post, plans to get depressed.

Just some quick thoughts on what I consider to be a very complicated but important topic.

Anybody who is alive is sufferring from an incurable disease. While I agree literally with your phrase "anyone who commits suicide deserves to be dead", I think we disagree on the meaning.
