PT 6.01 and multiple user accounts
Hi,
PT 6.01, OSX 10.2.5 here. Running fine, touch wood...until I need to add another user to the machine. Can't run Protools logged in as the new users Crash with this message in short from the Console crashlog; Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001) Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000008 Have tried a few times...any tweaks to be able to use multiple user logins? TIA and regards Janne A. |

Re: PT 6.01 and multiple user accounts
According to digi one has to install everything from the root / admin account in order to make multiple user logins work.
I tried that .... and it doesn't work 'fine' ... it works yes .. the PT app will open and most plugins too but some will crash the application. IMVHO ... stay away from multiple users for now. But that's just me ....

Re: PT 6.01 and multiple user accounts
I used to wonder what the equivalent of trashing prefs
and rebuilding the desktop under OS9 would be under OSX...and I think we have all found it.....repairing permissions....;-) I hear what you say, and we had already come to that conclusion..to wipe our testrig and install everything fresh from the root...and see if that helps. Multiple user accounts is a big deal over here in a multi-room facility and people wanting to retain their settings on login. That is one of the promises of OSX... thanx for reply Janne A. |

Re: PT 6.01 and multiple user accounts
It's my understanding (and DIGI has confirmed this) that to boot Protools the user must have administrative level access.
I've run into many issues with multiusers and have since reverted to a single signin (even though we have 8 people running this machine). The biggest issue now is permissions. When one login drags an omf file from our server and begins work on it, another login later can't burn that omf to a backup CD without finding the file "Get info" and change the permission of that file WHAT A PITA. The promise of multiusers is far from useful at this point. I've heard from others (granted they're in our graphics sweet) that it's downright buggy. Tim
