effect plug ins?
How good are the Bomb Factory BF-2A and 3A plug ins? How about the Fairchild 660 and 670? Are they worth buying or should I save the money and invest in others? Anyone use these on a regular basis? Thanks!

Re: effect plug ins?
I would not buy them for full price, but I think they're worth it when you get them cheap on ebay or from people here on the forum. The Fairchild stuff is probably more liked than the BF stuff, though they don't sound bad.

Re: effect plug ins?
They're all really good sounding plug-ins, in my opinion.
They tend to get dismissed these days because their values have dropped to absurdly low levels, mainly because there are so many available on the gray market. Funny, I remember when I was making an album in late 2002 on black face ADAT machines, the guy who owned the studio had just gotten a Pro Tools TDM rig, which was nearly up and running. He was marveling over his new Fairchild Bundle, which he'd paid a paltry few hundred dollars for. He was also amazed at the Moogerfooger Delay and Ring Mod he'd just bought. And the Joe Meek Bundle. Wow! They were, to him, the best thing since sliced bread. Move ahead a decade. Moogerfooger Bundle on eBay-$35.00 including the transfer. Fairchild Bundle- $45.00 Meek Bundle- can't even give them away. They really don't sound worse than they did a decade ago...they sound the same. Pretty darned good, and all of them can be had for mere pennies on the original dollar. Personally, I use them a lot. BF-3A, BF-2A, MC77, Pultecs, Fairchilds, Moogers, Meeks, Voce, Tel-Ray, even Cosmonaut Voice.

Re: effect plug ins?
Since you can get them used for a bargain, they are a "no brainer" to me. Now having said that, they don't match the Waves JJP versions(Fairchild and Pultec), but they are still worth it on a budget.

Re: effect plug ins?
I don't use these Plug-ins nearly as much as I once did but not because they don't sound good. As Albee, I simply feel that the features and sound on the newer offerings are even better.
