Default G4 1.25G mirror door - stability?

It seems to me that there were some stability issues with this rig and PT 5.13 for OS 9.2.2.
Has that been resolved or am I mistaken?

The problem you're thinking of might be where many users of mirrored door G4s with 001s or d24 cards had to have motherboards changed out to correct a boot or freeze.

Here's a link:
Why does my MDD not boot?

Also, these models run VERY hot and are incredibly noisy machines. Apple offered fan replacements to try and quiet them down.

Have had no probs with with a MIX4 in my Dual 1Ghz. I put the quiet fan kit in too. I didnt update the firmware for better fan control in OS9 though, which does make it noisier, but the cards never feel as hot as some reports ive heard. Ive only got 2 cars in now though. But I ran the MIX4 solid with 3 internal drives in the case as well for 3 weeks.

Ive heard a lot of people moaing about these machienes, But mines been great. Only as loud a a SADiE too...

just my 2p,
'best
Tom

MDD Macs (mirrored door) are a real problem. You can get more infor at: http://www.g4noise.com

I have one that works fine, but have had to modify the fans and keep the CPU in a 68 degree or lower enviroment.

Might be better to wait for the new G5's.

I thought Apple fixed the noisy fan problem some time ago.

I'm finally ready to switch over to OS X and PT 6.1, and just ordered a 1.25. Should be here in a couple days. Will post back.

I run PT5.3 on OS9 and 6.1 on OSX with one dual 1.25 gig mirrored and I haven't had one problem. The fan is no louder than the ones in my Storecase scsi box. I do, however, keep my mixing room very cool so I don't know much about heat issues.
