Hi!

working in a radio broadcasting compagny, as editor and sounddesigner, musician, I'm testing a lot of DAW: worked on Dalet, Xtract, Cubase, Logic, ProTools of course, Peak, Cooledit, SAW.... At this point, there are several points why Digi ProTools is not everywhere as it should (it is the best editor, best mixer, no doubt.)

-high speed bounce (Dalet makes it in 1/10 time: imagine a radio program of 2 hours bounce, multiply by the number of users in the chain (journalist edit, editor, sound illustrator...) and you will understand why it is crucial...). Everyone has it except Digi.

-freeze track function for RTAS softsynths/effects. I don't know why RTAS is so CPU hungry.

-better RTAS instruments handling, easier setup, multiple outputs (like logic).

-packed with a good RTAS softsynth/sampler/drumbox/ set (forget Reason... stepsequencing meets protools is a nonsense). Better effects (Logic is a lot better)

-free import/export function: Mpeg layer 2 (Broadcast standard) layer 3 (LAME is free and as goog as Frauenhofer), AAC (soon the Broadcasting standard I think)

-simple CD burning: put your indexes on your timeline and... burn

Do it and... nobody will work with something else. Thank you for your wonderful software

-of course for radio, Network capabilities with database and compressed files would be a killer feature, but... I'm dreaming

I'd simply like whatever track I have made a selection on in the editor to be highlighted and center when I switch to the mixer. I know this can be done with the label selection but it involves an extra click on a small label . . . just following the edit selection would be a godsend.

Grab Scrolling. So I can hold down a modifier key and grab scroll like in Photoshop.
You can already do this in pro tools. Hold down all 3 modifier keys and click and drag horizontally in any timebase ruler.

Ya, ya know... not so much with the OS9 and Mix support.

In fact, the more time they spend thinking about OS9/Mix, the less time they actually have for PT 7/OS X.

So no offense to NuBus, but I think Digi should just leave OS9/Mix alone and move forward.

Because if they never moved forward, then they would be stuck still dealing with NuBus systems.

I wish Digidesign would buy out Abelton Live and Melodyne and include their features in ProTools.

STeve
For Live functionality this would be great (yes you would need to buy ableton for the IP):

When you select Import Audio to Track dialog, the session or loop keeps playing

Any samples selected in dialog, sync to tempo

You can add samples from the dialog to the sesssion (new track) on the fly
