no more audiovision support?
i,ve posted several topics with questions about what version of mac os to use with audiovision version 4.1 v10, as well as the fact that i'm unable to use version 10 for some reason...with NO response from digidesign tech support...it looks like there's no more "on-line" support being given to audiovision...i would just like to confirm this - if possible...thanks

Re: no more audiovision support?
When AudioVision 4.1v10 was released in August of 1999, OS 8.1, 8.5.1 and 8.6 were all supported with the Pro Tools 5.0 DAE/DSI combination on a 9500. You definitely cannot use DSI 5.0.1 with Audiovision, so you should revert to DSI 5.0. if you are using DSI on your system. (I'm just the WebAdmin, so I apologize for my own ignorance here. I've never used an AudioVision or PT AV system personally, so I don't know if you actually use DSI at all)
I can't find the system requirements for AV 4.1v10 here at home, but version 4.1 was qualified with OS 8. On a 604 mac like the 9500, I haven't seen any reason to go beyond 8.6, and would probably recommend one of the 3 8.x systems listed above. I see from your previous posts that you are probably running 8.5.1 on a 9500. I also see that you have been reluctant to upgrade to Pro Tools AV, which is understandable if you have a working system, but it doesn't sound like you do have a working system, at least when it comes to using newer media. I think you will find more and more incompatibility with newer Avid media with the discontinued AudioVision from the things that I've read, including your own posts. I'm by no means an expert in this area, though, or a tech. The online Web Answerbase has 49 listings for keyword AudioVision. What error message are you getting when you say "I'm unable to use version 10 for some reason"? The Answerbase does say that one error message you mention in another post, "can't find extent for file" that appears when using v9 recommends reverting to v8. I don't know if that is true as well with v10, but it could be. There is certainly web-based tech support available for Audiovision using the Tech Support Request Form at http://www.digidesign.com/tsr Using the TSR, we can keep a record of your specific setup and history. Also, this time of year it's possible that the particular Audiovision specialists that moniter this DUC forum might be out for the holidays. Other users with similar setups may be able to help you in the interim. If you can't use the system at all, though, I would suggest a phone call to Technical Support, or direct email at a minimum. As a WebAdmin and not an AV specialist, I can't personally offer tech support, but if I were in your situation I would want to resolve it in the most efficient way possible. We do our best on the DUC, but we can't guarantee that it will be the most expedient way to resolve an individual problem. Complex steb by step troubleshooting specific to your setup is almost always best handled one on one. Bruce Paine CS WebAdmin
