Re: Type 2 Crashes with AV Option|XL

This type errors are usually Mac OS errors The system seems to be setup correct. Check to make sure the minimum memory settings are at there default for PT and DAE Are you trying to playback Video Media created in another application ( Audio Vision or Media Composer or was the Video Media created in Pro Tools Ver 5.0.1? Respond here or call us at 650-842-6699 for further assistance. Please ask for me. Thanks MJ Digidesign Tech Support [This message has been edited by TechSupt (edited September 19, 2000).] |

Re: Type 2 Crashes with AV Option|XL
The Video Media is recorded directly in ProTools 5.01. These are not imported projects.
The minimum memory settings for both DAE/PT have not been altered. The preferred memory settings have been set as per the AVOption & AVOption|XL Release Bulletin 5/19/00. That is, PT =60MB, and DAE = 50MB. [This message has been edited by Samhein (edited September 19, 2000).] |

Have you called us at tech support yet? 650-842-6699 You said that your crashing all the time? Next lets try removing all third party plug-ins. Only Digidesign core plug-ins in the plug-ins folder. Are you crashing during Video Digitizing? I know you said you are doing Audio/Video integration but have you (will you) try an audio only session to see if we get the same results? Also please switch to Pro Tools ver. 5.0.1cs1. It is located in the Beta folder on the Pro Tools 5.0.1 CD. Does the system crash type2 when you are recording as well as playback, anytime, all the time? Also you say you are using two Digidrives with this system. One for audio one for Video? What AVID video resolution are you using? For a system this like this, with this kind of problem still going unresolved, and this kind of time being spent already I think you would have to agree it is time to call into tech Support (ask for me) to get this resolved. I have posted the phone number multiple times and asked you the to call us about this problem with no response from you? I will continue to provide you with as much information as possible here in this forum, however as with any Pro Tools system you get a year of phone tech support. We have more resources to use and methods of solving your Pro tools related problems when you call in. If for any reason you are unable to call in because of time zones and other related issues you can contact us at: [email protected] and we can make arrangements to call you. Looking forward to hearing from you. MJ Digidesign tech Support [This message has been edited by TechSupt (edited September 19, 2000).] |

Re: Type 2 Crashes with AV Option|XL
Please tell me that either one of you might post the resultant fix so that other type 2 error folks can share the wealth?
Thanks. |

Re: Type 2 Crashes with AV Option|XL
The type 2 errors were starting to happen more frequently, I even got a t2 on the finder . A complete re-install of the Mac OS seems to have cured it (so far, but its only been two days9). But I still get another type of crash, when mixing usually when quick punch is enabled PT locks up and then one by one the Procontol and the fader packs go offline.Mac restart seems to be the only cure.

Re: Type 2 Crashes with AV Option|XL
Type -2 errors are normally RAM related. As someone already suggested here, increasing the allocated RAM to both DAE and Pro Tools is probably in order as well as making sure that the OS has plenty of RAM. I would suggest increasing the RAM for each to a minimum of 90 MB each. Also, keep in mind that the OS RAM usage is going to fluctuate significantly so I would suggest increasing the system RAM to 384MB. We've been using several Pro Tools w/AV Option XL systems here in L.A., all of which have 384 MB's of RAM installed, and have not been experiencing the Type 2 crashes. Re: Type 2 Crashes with AV Option|XL
Folks,
My crashes occurred during digitizing with the AV option. My type 2 and any other ProTools related crashes all ended once we received and installed new ATTO firmware and another 128mb of RAM (per Jon) 3 weeks or so ago. |
