Retrospective Record Not Working

Anyone else having an issue where Retrospective record does nothing? I’m following the same steps in Avid’s YouTube videos about it, but definitely doesn’t pull up any performance. Am I missing something?

What is does require is the MIDI/Instrument track to be record armed.

Hit play (with record armed), play some MIDI and hit stop. Thereafter, hit Shift+C or select Retrospective Record at the bottom of the Event menu and the MIDI data appears by magic

Been using it and I love it! You can sneak up on yourself without the associated red light fever of actually going into record

Which is a legitimate thing, man that red light starts flashing and everything all tenses up.

Unfortunately, Record arming the track doesn’t seem to make any difference, it’s still not working for me. I followed the above steps to a T and still nothing

It might be worth it for you to trash your prefs and try again.

The other thing to note when you do get it working is that it takes into account the status of MIDI Merge. Thus, if you are in loop record and MIDI Merge is on, when you stop jamming after the perfect pass you'll will find an unholy mess of all the loops stacked on one another

So the lesson is to probably turn merge off if you are working with loop on

The only thing I still seem to have an issue with is the track presets not showing up in the workspace browser. But maybe that’s just a bug?
