Default 8.0.1 pre download wierdness. Anyone else?

Anyone else run into this?:

I'm on a PowerPC Dual 2.0, running OS 10.5.x. I received a PT notification saying there was a new version available for download the other night. I clicked on the 'download' button, and part of the way through it stopped, saying it could not install a certain piece of software before the download. Then it locked up the machine.

Upon restart and opening my current version [cs3], I had a few weird things happen:
-- all my user default settings for my plugins were gone
-- sounds are sometimes allocated to the wrong tracks, ie a drum track coming up on a keyboard track
-- Really long auto saves even though the session file is not that large
-- a general sluggishness of the whole system

I rebuilt the permissions on the computer twice now, both with long lists of fixes each time.

Not sure what to do next. From what I've seen here, downloading and installing 8.0.1 might not be the right answer for me at the moment.

thanks for your thoughts...

John

Hi,

I would think the best thing from here would have to be an un-install and re-install of Pro Tools as it looks like some files are messed up or corrupted.

Uninstall from the uninstaller in the digi folder in applications! take the safe option of uninstall which will leave some files and third party plugs etc, but remove the program files, then trash ALL prefs and database files. repair permission from disk utility then reboot the Mac. Now re-install the version you had prior to running the upgrade.

use this app to trash prefs and database files http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=190122
