PT8 has been working for years on this version of mac os
Since I installed the drivers, it's not working anymore. I uninstalled it.
I tried to launch it pressing the n key, "unable to locate the digidesign hardware..."

Any thought ?

Which version of LE8.0.x are you using?
8.0.0 was not working with 10.6, 8.0.3 was the first version meant for 10.6. actually.

Anyway, if you are saying it was working before with 10.6.8 you probably may have 8.0.3-8.0.5.

Avid/Digidesign also says you may not install any 003 drivers separately as all you need
is already included in the LE8 installer. The system may be messed up otherwise.

What I definitely would recommend to do now is to back up your data first and then to make a completely
new, clean install of everything from scratch as there may be something wrong with the system now.

Just install a fresh 10.6 OS, update it to a fully updated 10.6.8,
install this one: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 (recommended by Avid)
install the iLok stuff,
then install LE8.0.5: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...663?popup=true
do some optimization: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...3Fpopup%3Dtrue
after that connect the 003 and you should be fine again!

Your whole system was made to work together perfectly (Mac OS 10.6.8, LE8.0.5, 003)
so this is gonna work again for sure.

To use the 003 with other applications it should work just to select the 003 as audio device
for the selected application (go to the application´s preferences/audio/output device and select 003).
The volume will then have to be adjusted only by the Monitor Knob on the 003.

But be aware of that you can only use 1 application at the same time with the
003 driver.
If you haven´t close e.g. iTunes using the 003 and you may try to run Pro Tools it
will not work until you will have shut down iTunes.
The 003 driver is not able to support more than 1 app at the same time.

P.S.: if the complete reinstall is too complicated at the moment you may try to use this little app:
http://www.freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/
and type in all the stuff like Digidesign, Pro Tools, 003, etc. Everything is related to Pro Tools. Which will hopefully
delete all files from your system. Then just go to install everything from the Mac 10.6.8 combo update on like
written above. Maybe it will work though a complete fresh install will be more sure to get it work again I think. Cheers. ;-)

That's something I didn't know about is that the drivers already included in the installation. Might be my bad cause I told him to reinstall the 003 drivers.
Clear everything and reinstall and I would just use the output on your Mac to the 003 Aux.

Thank you guys, the solution of updating my version of LE worked.
But, as VRW wrote, the driver support only one application, and the keyboard shortcuts are not supported.

Do the solution with a RCA/jack between the rack aux and the mac output allow multi application sounds ? Is that working without PT switched on ?
In that case I'll swith for this solution.

Not sure about the multi application sounds you mean(if you mean a couple programs open and running, I would say yeah since it's just an out) But yeah, just fire up the 003 without opening PT and go nuts. Be sure to turn down volume first when your ready so you don't kill your speakers or ears.
