Default Using 3rd party audio interface w/ PTLE and Mbox ?

Hi All,

I do a lot of "found sound" sampling and sequencing both at my home studio and on location. I could definitely use more than the 2 mic inputs on my Mbox.

I am interested using ProTools LE with a relatively portable interface like a Presonus Firepod (8 mic inputs !), a MOTU Traveller (only 4 mic inputs, but more portable than Digi 002R), or maybe even saving up for longer and buying a Tascam FW-1884 for the home studio and sticking with the Mbox for location recording (providing the Tascam HUI emulation works as well as with ProTools as Tascam claims). As you can read, I am a bit scatterbrained when it comes to deciding on what type of interface to get, but with so many on the market it is hard to choose just one.

I have a PTLE 6.7 and Mbox system, so I would have to keep the Mbox plugged in at all times to run PTLE.

MY "INEXPERIENCED WITH COMPUTER AUDIO SO PLEASE DON'T MAKE FUN OF ME" QUESTION IS THIS:

Will I be able to get the higher sampling rates (88.2, 96) available via the 3rd party audio interface even though the MBox is also plugged in ? I imagine this has more to do with the CoreAudio drivers of the 3rd party interface than with having it and the Mbox connected simultaneously, but I just want to make sure.

Thanks in advance

Default Re: Using 3rd party audio interface w/ PTLE and Mb

if you need more then 2 mic inputs and want to use ProTools you will have to get a 002 or an HD system, or you could go with an M-Audio i/o like a 4/10 or a 14/18 and get ProTools M powered.

That is all
