Default Newbee PTLE Digi 003: Faders sticking to 0db position

I recently stepped away from Roland VS 2480 and replaced it by Macbook Pro 2.33 GHz intel core 2 Duo 2Gb Ram 10.4.9 combo+ Firewire 800 Glyph Audio drive (formatted for OS-X) connected to the Mac+ Digi 003 Factory Firewire 400 connected to the Mac+ Waves SSL/EMI Chandler/Digidesign Producer pack/McDSP classic bundle. All nice, sounds very good, easy to work with.

BUT, for some reason or another, i can maniplulate the faders only on the screen (the real faders on the Digi 003 follow) and not on the Digi 003. They work against me and always return to +/- the Odb position. I'v tried this in several automation modes, but still it refuses it to do. I can not find the reason nor solution (I'v been looking in the reference guide, have watch the DVD a few times but no answer).

I use the internal clock source for playback and an external for recording (ADAT connection ISA 428) and I have no midi connections to external devices.
PTLE 7.3.1 CS3 (reinstalled after installing the producer pack 7.1.1)
I also downloaded the midi 003 firmware.

Who can help me?

Hi Chicken

I recomend to you two things:

1 Read the entire manual of your new 003, on it you can understand how it woks, trust me, I have few years doing this, time to time I read the manual of my stuff to remember how it work Hardware and software, maybe you can find thing that you maybe don't know.

2 Install the 10.4.10 Combo for your MacBook Pro. Cheers!

Umm.. Why do this?

Edit: oh and my advice: start with some general troubleshooting-check out the troubleshooting sticky thread. I'd probably do the "trashing the preferences"-thing first.

Thanks for the reply.

Soundproof,
i have tried this, but the problem stays.
Upgrading from 10.4.9 combo to 10.4.10 will not be the solution I think.

It looks a bit like PTLE is transmitting all of his commands to the DIGI 003, but the DIGI 003 is not transmitting all of his commands to PTLE; like FAder movement.
Panning, EQ, transport and even Plugin tweaking works from Digi 003 to PTLE.

Anyone?

What automation mode is the track in? It sounds like you've got them all in 'Read' and there's volume automation on the track. Try changing the automation mode on a track to something like write, latch or off and tell us if that changes anything.

Also try trashing preferences if none of the above suggestions help.

Also be sure to check in ALL the automations to see if there's anything "hidden" where you accidently automated something that shouldn't be. If you find dots, delete them

I have changed the automation mode from Read into any other mode (for all tracks): latch, write, touch, off and the problem stays the same. I can not find any dot or recorded automation.I also have trashed the preferences as described in the digisupport announcement.

To clearify: If I change the faderposition on the Macdisplay, the 003 nicely follows. But if I change the position of the fader on the digi 003, it's position in PT LE does not change and if I release the fader on the 003, it goes back-immediately- to its original position.
It looks like for this function, PTLE talks to Digi 003, but Digi003 does not talk to PTLE. For other functions like panning, plugin tweaking, transport etc... I don't have this problem.

PS: I have the Glyps audio drive connected by firewire 800 to the Macbook and the digi 003 by firewire 400 connected to the macbook.

Anyone?

Thank You

In addition;

Also interesting: when I go into Utility mode of the 003 it says v7.3.0.125 for the faders.

Now, If I go into testmode for the faders: Triang is ok/Sine is ok/Step is ok/
Groups is different: the faders stick at 0512 but you can not move them.
Touch is also different: faders stick at +/- 0185 but if you touch them they go immediately back to the 0185 position.

Or is this normal?

When I go into Encodrtestmode: the inner encoder moves nicely up to 99 and back. ok
The outer encoder goes nicely up to 015 but then jumps to 008 and stays there. Also if I turn this outer encoder back to 000 it jumps back up to 008.

Or is this normal?

Anyone? Digitechsupport?
