Default 7.3.1 LE randomly deleting regions when saving

When saving a session copy from 7.3.1 LE down to ver. 6.9 (and lower) I have lost regions from the time line in the edit window. Basically I delivered a session to a mix that was missing regions. These regions exist in the pt 7.3.1 session file and do not exist in the copy that I made for the mix. PT randomly deleted regions and in some cases where I had a cross-fade deleted the first half and the cross-fade but left the second half of the region. As a test I saved a 7.3.1 session copy to 7.3.1 and did not lose any regions. When I repeated the save session copy down to ver 6 again the same regions where removed in the ver 6 session. It was my understanding that this was a known bug in 7.3 and had been fixed in 7.3.1. Obviously it is still a problem. I'm looking for a fix as everywhere I mix is still running Ver 6.9 or lower.

If you had those regions "grouped"..this is a normal behavior.
There is a warning pop-up with all dropped elements listed, when saving copy in any version below 7.
in order to have all regions copied over, you'll need to 'ungroup" them first.

good luck,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that is not the problem. The regions were not grouped. They were on a mono track in both instances and had never been in a region group.

No.
I bought Pt 7.3.1 and used it for 1 session. When I saved that session down to 5.x-6.9 and found the problem, I uninstalled it right away and have not used it since.

I'm running 7.3.1 and I lost a region and had to manually relink it myself.
Makes me worried that you can lose a chunk of your session and then have to paste the thing back to gether yourself...

I thought this problem had been fixed by the 7.3.1 download?

Hi, it happened to me a few times too while I was saving a copy of a session to a lower version(or save a copy in general). I lost a whole track of drums.
I don't know if it works for you but what I did was consolidate that whole drum track and then save session copy as.
Then I checked the copy and the drum tracks were there.

Hope it helps.

I didn't save a copy, or save it to a lower version, I just saved the session.
Regions were missing when I re-opened the same session later.

I haven't even started saving copies of sessions with lots of edits...can't wait.

7.3.1 is just great, isn't it?

I thought they'd fixed this probelm they had with 7.3?

Hi, I was actually referring to the 1st post regarding the saving to a lower format and losing regions.
But as far as saving a session and losing regions, have you checked disk allocation?

Yeah as a test i did consolidate the missing regions and resave and that did "fix" the immediate issue. However I have stopped using 7.3.1 and unfortunately don't plan on using it again for quite a while as i don't have time to beta test software for digidesign. I like to help and all that, but this is supposed to be professional software that I use everyday for my work, not an open source project.
