Default Sharing the Digi 001 with a PC

Okay, I've got the Digi 001 on my Mac. Is there a way to share it with my PC as well? I know I will need a new PCI card but can I just move the cable back and forth without buying a new Digi 001 interface? Need to use PC and Mac Platforms in same studio.

Getting the MBOX as well, does anyone know if it does onboard processing or is everything dumped on the CPU? I'm curious since I will be using it with a G3 b/w with 350mhz.

THANKS!

If you have the 001 PCI card on each machine, you should be able to use the interface rack mount with eaith. You willl most likely need to reboot when you switch over from one to the other.

The M-box uses the same PTle software as the 001, processing everything via the CPU. If you are thinking you can use both the 001 and M-box together, think again.

So I will be limited with the Mbox on the mac track an plug in wise more so than with the digi 001 which does some work on the PCI card.

Wonder what I could get out of the Mbox with my G3?

No big difference in performance between the 001 & Mbox.

The Mbox is more "cpu taker" since it's using USB.

In a month or so digi will release Mbox for PC.
If you could explain your needs of the system I guess people will be able to help you more .

You should look out for old Audiomedia III card that can run on PC/Mac and use PTLE.

The PC can give you higher track-count/plug-in count but some plugins still use mac only.

You can actually sync the 2 system for total of 64 internal tracks.

another concept you might like is to send channels to the PC (AM3) upto 4 channels for putting inserts. this way you can use the PC cpu without killing your g4/g3 .
