Default Audiosuite, Editing Disabled. Can\'t add effects to files.

I've got a Mac Powerbook G4 1.67 Ghz with OS 10.4.11 and 2 gigs of RAM. I'm using protools 6.9.2 with a Maxtor 500gb external drive.

My issue is that when I try to apply plug-ins to a track or region, it creates the file in the Project Window, but doesn't put it onto the audio track I'm trying to edit. I have to open the project window, drag the new edited file onto the old one, and try to match it up. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it's 10 times more time consuming than just applying the effect and adjusting the crossfades.

I'm thinking there has to be some setting somewhere I accidently clicked on, but I can't find it anywhere. Maybe I just don't know what to search for, but it looks like nobody's ever had this problem on the DUC. Or maybe it's just so obvious I can't see it.

I'm hesitant to reinstall protools because I'm in the middle of a project and I don't know what kinds of variables might change the sound. Could it be the hard drive is too big? I'm grasping at straws here. Thanks for any help.

Enable 'Use In Playlist' at the top of the AS plug-in window.

Thank you! Maybe. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds crazy enough to work.
