Default Pt 10 Demo - unable to locate hardware...

Ok, I want to demo PT 10. My previous version was 6. I have a registered iLok and have the "Pro Tools 10 Digidesign Trial" registered on my iLok account, When I try to load PT, I get the message "unable to locate hardware" and I have to cancel the process. I thought that PT 10 could be used with out hardware and that all I needed was the iLok? Am I wrong? I actually don't need any hardware for my intended use of the product.

Any ideas what is or I have done wrong?

Thanks, Barton

You need an ASIO compliant audio "path". Usually, that would be some kind of interface, but the onboard audio can usually work if you get an ASIO driver for it. ASIO4ALL is a freebie download that will work in most cases. Hold the N key while opening Pro Tools so you can select ASIO4ALL as the chosen audio engine(if it does not default there). Read up on ASIO4ALL as there is some minor setup required.
