Singing Underwater?
I have a session next week where I have to make a vocalist sound like he's singing underwater.
I was wondering if anyone has ever done this and if you used plug-in's or unconventional recording techniques. One method we've discussed is wrapping a 57 in a condom, putting it in a tub of water while the singer puts his face in the water and sings. I'm serious. Any tips would really help. Thanks. |

Re: Singing Underwater?
I've done this several times with dialogue, but never with a singer, so it might not be exactly what you're after. But here's my 2-part process:
First, put your mic in the bottom of a kitchen-size plastic wastebasket and record the singer singing into it. No water involved. Then fill a fishtank or a 5-gallon water bottle with water. Mic from the outside. Using vinyl tubing, judiciously overdub bubbles. BH |

Re: Singing Underwater?
Insert a flange and set the rate and depths to achiever a warbly underwater effect, then use the mix control to adjsut the wet/dry combination unitl you achieve intelligibility and the desired effect.
Hope this is helpful. |

This might just be what where02190 just described but the Eventide one was very cool. |
