What in the world are sellers thinking? I really can't believe that so many are not understanding the value of HD?

I have always sold high, and re purchased low. I have a unique situation that allows me to do that. I paid 900 for my core card and 550 for my accel card, but I bought from distressed sellers. I have sold over 8 HD rigs in my day, but would never have thought this would happen?

Barry just imagine the cost to actually upgrade to pt 10 and then pt 11 hd for the person who will want to do it. Pt 7.4 to pt 10 is what 2.8k right there? then an other 570 for HD 11 with new hardware on top of the 1.7 k that person just paid. He's not better off I think.

Nice - still about 700-800 a card - I imagine once PT11 drops they will hover around 500 a card

I don't look at ebay all the time, but these prices seem normal to me for the last few months....

used PCIe core(No software included) = $900-1000
used PCIe accel card = $500-750

The cost of upgrading a PT8HD or earlier license is so expensive that the 7.4 license doesn't add much, if any value to the cards.

So I don't think $1600 or even $1400 for an HD2 is unusual based on the current market. This market is very similar to what happened with the value used MIX cards about 10 years ago.

This past winter, I didn't have anything HD and from scratch put together an older dual G5,PT8,HD3 accel,96i, midi io, and more tdm plug ins than I can keep track of for around $3000 total....I remember when this system came out and digi was promoting all the plugins....The more cards you bought, the more plugins they gave you.....I remember thinking, I'd LOVE to have that HD3 system but my bank account said nope...I couldn't even afford the old used 888 stuff because it was still incredibly expensive....Then they announced the accel upgrade and I thought it couldn't get much better than that....LOL....Anyway, I'm thrilled with what this old (by a lot of peoples standards) can do....I imagine in another 7 or 8 years when I'm ready to upgrade again, I'll get someone's 12 core maxed PCI-e system for $3000 and be thrilled at what it will do compared to my G5....People who have the new systems now are enjoying what they can do now at this moment until something much better comes along....In the mean time I'll enjoy my new (old) system...It's just the cycle of how it works....moon

Apple's new Mac Pro (unveiled today) has no internal space for hard drives or PCI-e cards. That means at least two additional boxes with power supplies and cooling systems just to get a PTHD/PTHD Native/PTHDX system up and running. Fine for many, not for me. I'm hoping this forum will help provide continued user support for what will surely be a growing number of TDM holdouts.
