Default self powered fire wire drive

i just got an ads 2.5 fire wire enclosure for a fujitsu 2.5 drive. i cant get it to work on my mac's (g4 9.1 os i book 9.1 os) any ideas any one.

I just bought a similar one..I cant find the make though..
on OS 9.1 it shouldnt require istallation.
Does it get power form the firewire?
Is the drive set on Master Mode?

thanx 4 the reply Q. it does get power from the fiewire connect. it lights up when plugged in. also i have tried every possible combination of jumpers, master included. ??????????

I think generally you want the jumper on the drive set to "single" which on many drives means you just remove the jumper altogether. If you've tried every combination, you should have gotten it to pop up, though. Hmmm...

What utility did you use to format the drive? You should use Drive Setup. I usually have to put the drive inside the computer to do this, and then I move it to the FW enclosure afterwards.

hey clang. did u mean mount the drive in a laptop? cuz thats what its for. if so how. is there room for 2 drives in an i book?

Sorry, I didn't see the ibook part. If the drive has not yet been formatted, then you could always borrow someone's G3 or G4 to format the drive using the Drive Setup utility.
