Default Buffer size error -9092 still cannot fix

Hi everyone there, I just upgrade my PC from pentium 4 to a Core 2 duo CPU
I was using the same operating system and pro tools runs without problem before
but after changing my CPU and mainboard,
I just cannot playback any audio in pro tools. (buffer size error -9092)
I am using Pro tools LE 7.3.1 and already update the cs6 patch,
with windows xp KB 896256 hotfix installed, disabled all USB / Firewire / Network device,
and I have also followed the steps in General Troubleshooting - Pro Tools 6 & 7 Win XP for THREE times already.
The problem just still here... I can't playback any audio with the error keeps popping up.
I hope somebody can help me about this,
the following is my computer detail
MANY Thanks

By the way i wonder if this problem will solve by upgrading to 7.4?... if it does I will purchase 7.4 and Vista immediately for any cost...@@

OK first; did you just plugin the same disk that had your original operating system on it? Or did you actually do a fresh Windows install after the motherboard and CPU upgrade? (hint: you should have done the fresh install)

Next, which Digidesign hardware are you using? The reason that I ask is that if it is any one of the firewire interfaces (002/002R, 003/003R, MBox2Pro) then this is a problem:

Via firewire controllers are known to cause conflicts. Definitely recommended that you use one of the Qualified Firewire cards.

Which drive are you using for your sessions? The SATA or the ATA? (C or D?)

Thanks for the reply

1 - OK first; did you just plugin the same disk that had your original operating system on it? Or did you actually do a fresh Windows install after the motherboard and CPU upgrade? (hint: you should have done the fresh install)

-I did a fresh Windows installation

2 - Next, which Digidesign hardware are you using? The reason that I ask is that if it is any one of the firewire interfaces (002/002R, 003/003R, MBox2Pro) then this is a problem:

-I am using Mbox2Pro

3 - Quote:

- I was using this firewire card before my computer upgrade and it works just fine, maybe capability problem to my new mainboard??

4 - Which drive are you using for your sessions? The SATA or the ATA? (C or D?)

- I use C: (SATA) for the sessions, I have tried to use D: for session but it saids its not a proper audio playback / recording drive.

Thanks for helping~

This is almost definitely your problem. Recording to the system drive is not supported or recommended. You need to be using a separate physical disk for your audio sessions.

There might be a few reasons for that issue. The first is an easy one; check the Workspace browser in Pro Tools and make sure the drive is assigned as a Recording drive ("R", not "P" or "T"). If you cannot set that value to "R", then you probably initialized that drive as a Dynamic volume. Pro Tools only supports basic volumes. Unfortunately the only way to correct that is to wipe the disk and start from scratch.

The VIA firewire chip is still an issue. Even if it worked in your other computer, they have been known to be troublesome on some systems.
