Increase H/W Buffer Size - Error 9092
I am unable to record or playback anything. Everytime I go to record a track, I get an error message - "The operating system held off interrupts for too long. If this occurs often, try increasing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback Engine Dialog. (-9092)"
I spoke to the vendor, who suggested I use the Amnesty Upgrade, which I did. I upgraded from 7.1.2 to 7.3, which has an option to "ignore error during recording and playback" - Now I don't get the error message, but instead a message that shows "Problem detected with audio clock. Check that your clock source and sample rate are correct." Can someone please help....? Thanks in advance. |

Re: Increase H/W Buffer Size - Error 9092
We need a lot more info if we are to help. First thing I would check is to verify you are running your hard drives in DMA mode and NOT PIO mode. You do have 2 hard drives, right? You did do the required tweaks in the Getting Started Guide? Did you verify that your computer is compatible?

Re: Increase H/W Buffer Size - Error 9092
You should start with the steps in the Win XP/ Pro Tools 6.x/7.x General Troubleshooting thread and post specific info on your system per the info on that thread if you're unable to resolve the problem.
You may want to look at the Help us help you thread as well. |

Re: Increase H/W Buffer Size - Error 9092
The information I usually want to see is the hard drives. Usually this error shows up when people are only using one hard drive or recording to the system drive. Digidesign recommends recording to a physically separate 7200 RPM hard drive (not a separate partition). IF the second hard drive is external, it should be firewire and not USB.

Re: Increase H/W Buffer Size - Error 9092
Hi,
I have been using an external hard-drive, as I had read that this was recommended, however, it is connected via USB. I have organised to install a 2nd hard-drive in the next few days, so hopefully that will fix the problem... If it doesn't, what is the next thing I should look at...??? C |

Re: Increase H/W Buffer Size - Error 9092
There are many things to troubleshoot a problem listed in the Win XP/ Pro Tools 6.x/7.x General Troubleshooting sticky thread at the top of this forum. Let's start at the obious one with the USB hard drive and see how that works first.

Re: Increase H/W Buffer Size - Error 9092
I don't think the USB will work at all.
I was using a Lacie HD with the Oxford 011 chipset with my 002 and it worked great. Good Luck |

Re: Increase H/W Buffer Size - Error 9092
That is my opinion also. A few users have been able to use USB2.0 drives but in general it is not recommended for Protools. Protools need a sustained throughput to stream the digital audio for multitrack applications. USB can handle bursts of data but can not sustain the throughput to support this demand.

Re: Increase H/W Buffer Size - Error 9092
Hi,
I have installed a new internal hard-drive into my computer, and am still coming up with the same error messages... - Audio Processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks. If this occurs often, reducing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback Engine Dialog may help prevent the problem. (-9129) When I reduce the buffer size, I then get the error - The operating system held off on interrupts too long. If this occurs, try increasing the "H/W Buffer Size" in the Playback Engine Dialog. (-9092) I am beginning to think this is WAY TOO HARD. Does everyone have this kind of drama when trying to use this system... I'm beginning to think it's junk...!!! C |
