Invalid fades

I'm getting invalid fade messages in 7.2: like " fade x at z in playlist "?" is invalid because its left contributor is a fade"
When I look at position "Z" in the session there is no audio there and I have not used any playlists except on the top level, ie only 1 per track.
So how to I get rid of this??
