this may be an obvious solution, but how many hard drives are you running. I remember when I first started in 96k land I tried running just one firewire drive and it got kind of weird after about 12-15 tracks...not saying that this is your first venture, but it's something to consider if you are only using one drive. I got nothing else... Good luck with your problem man

yeah, everything was fine before the upgrade regardless of drives. i could run large 96k sessions off an internal sata drive or external firewire drive without problems. i'm using a dual g5 with 4.5 gig ram, hd|3 accel. any other ideas would be appreciated. thanks!

How many tracks are you trying to play off of 1 drive?

If you split the tracks between multiple drives, does the 'jumpiness' go away?

8 tracks. i played the exact same session pre 6.9.2 with no problems, now it gives me problems. i converted the session to 48k and got the playback to be fine, but what should i do about 96k?

it doesn't play back smoothly in time. it scrambles the tempo a little bit. very awkward sounding.

It is very likely that, with the additional overhead of 6.9.2 and Tiger that you're maxing out what can be done from 1 drive at 96k. Firewire drives are qualified up to 12 tracks at 96k - if you're trying to do more than that, you'll need to split those audio files between multiple drives.

Compatibility - Hard Drive Requirements
