Default No sound into tracks - PT 8.03 LE/Mac - Help?

Hi All,

Just got Pro Tools LE 8.03 (with an Mbox 2) going on my shiny new iMac.

iMac: 3.06 GHz, 4 GB Mem, 500 GB Hard Disk, OS 10.6.2

I have two devices connected to my Mbox --
- Input 1 is a Shure SM58 mic
- Input 2 is my Yahama E413 keyboard

Output from Mbox is through M-Audio AV30s.

Sound is coming through the Mbox, can hear the input devices clear and clean through the monitors. Fiddling around with the gain and mix knobs adjusts sound as you'd expect.

I have my Mbox plugged into the mac via USB -- the Mac definitely sees the device.

However, when I create new tracks no sound comes through into the tracks. No recording, no movement on the volume red/green bar, even though I can hear the sound through my monitors.

Somehow the sound isn't getting through. Help! Very frustrating. Any good ideas? Some lame configuration parameter mis-set?

Well noble bulletin board people I fixed it. Unplugged the Mbox2 from my mac, plugged it back in, and then all was good.

Sigh.

Forgot the two rules of engineering.

If it's not working, restart it.
If it still doesn't work, kick it.

Glad I didn't have to kick my new Mac.

Please report back after you've used your new Imac with 8.0.3 for a few days. I just bought a new Imac but I have been scared away from installing pro tools because all of the issues reported on this board. It would be nice to hear that someone is running 8.0.3 without issues.

Thumbs up Re: No sound into tracks - PT 8.03 LE/Mac - Help?

Hi there - I just had a similar problem and unplugged the mbox 2 worked. Last night I recorded audio through the line in from Roland TD-3 electric drums. Everything worked perfect. Then this morning when I selected the "record" function on the track and went to record, no sound registered on pro tools mix screen and the volume bars were frozen up to the yellow. No movement, no sound in pro tools. I closed pro tools, unplugged unplugged the mbox and plugged it back in and now it works fine. Thanks!
