Default Best Plug-Ins

I just switched over to Pro Tools HD3 Accel not too long ago and I'm ready to make my purchases for top notch audio quality plug-ins... I used to use Cubase SX with the Universal Audio (UAD-1) Plug-Ins for most of my work. I used the LA2A for compressing most vocals, the 1176LN for instrument compression, and SiR for reverberation. So my question to you folks is what is considered the standard, or should I dare say what is considered the best plug-in for Vocal Compression? And... What is the best Plug-In for reverberation? I'm considering the purchase of Altiverb, however it doesn't have some features that will be missing from SiR... such as the ability to reverse the reverb.

Any suggestions for plug-in purchases would be greatly appreciated. This is one of those purchases I only want to do once, but would want to get the most out of it...

Keep me posted!!!

Best compressor on vocals for me was the Sony Oxford...the 1176 by UA is very good as well (not Bombfactory).

The waves platnium series sounds great. Their comps, eqs, and L2 plugins are a must in my sessions.

Here is my list:

EQ: Sony Oxford
Compression: McDSP
Reverb: IR-1 and maybe ReVibe, but havent been able to try it.
Delay: EchoFarm
Chorus: SoundToys, MetaFlanger

Master:
McDSP Analog Channel
Waves Platinum L2
Sony Oxford Inflator
Cranesong Phoenix

Other:
Vocal Ptich correction: Melodyne

If you dont have any of the above maybe you can start with the Waves Platinum bundle.

For general vocal compression, you can't go wrong with the UA plug-ins (La2a & 1176), they are so smooth. For surgical compression on problem vocals the McDSP MC2000 multiband is very useful. The Sony Dynamics can be aggressive without being harsh. I wouldn't want to be without any of the above.

Favorite reverb are ReVibe (amazing in stereo and surround), and the soon to be released TL Space for convolution.

I use Waves a lot and I love Echofarm. And for the budget minded- Pluggo plug-ins are fun.

TL Space has the ability to reverse impulse reverbs in real time, adjustable via a slider measured in BPM.

We'll have an update on pricing and availability of TL Space in the next few days.

My pop/rock sessions never go without Vintage Warmer (RTAs), TC Chorus, McDSP CB2, L1, Amp Farm, Waves De-esser, Ren Eq, Q10 and PAZ.
Soon into URS and Sony.
