Default Re: Pro Tools 6.7cs8 Update

Upgraded a dual 1.25 MDD HD6 from 6.7cs7 to 6.7cs8. We have a project with a moderate track count (40-50 tracks per session)
Each session came to us with all tracks assigned to O/P 1-2 with a Master fader inserted. In cs7 the Master fader could be deleted and the session plays. With cs8, deleting the Master fader and pressing play results in " ProTools has unexpectedly quit".
Unassigning then reassigning the O/P's to 1-2 works or just reassigning to multiple outs works. I reinstalled PT in case it was a bad upgrade, to no avail. This problem is very reproduceable on this project, don't know about other projects. Comments??

Hey I just noticed that "Region overlap display" is gone w/ cs8.
Is this a preference? Anyone else notice this?

I am also getting the playback engine problem where old sessions open with max dsp selected by accident. If I click No everything is fine, but clicking yes does not set to proper dsp. This happens on every new session since upgrading to cs8. Once set and saved the sessions open fine from then on.

Extremely odd... I am not having the playback engine problem anymore. I had Mac OS 10.3.8 and Pro Tools 6.7cs8 when the problem was happening, but I ran the MAC software updater (under the apple menu) and it is fixed now. MAC released a security update about a week ago, and after installing that, Pro Tools hasn't done the playback engine thing since.

Mark,
you may want to try that, hopefully it will work for you too.

Hi,

I've found one bug. I don't know how long it's there and if others will have it too.

When compacting tracks, like for instance a track where the silence has been removed, the timing is offsync. After saving the song and re-opening it everything is fine.
Can anyone else confirm this?

best from germany

I noticed the playback engine problem went away (so far) when I put the surround mixer_b in the plug ins folder

this may seem off-topic as i haven't installed the cs8 update but i'd like to know if anyone of you has encountered the following bug and whether it has FINALLY been fixed in this update. clear selected (shift-apple-b) from the region list brings up regions that are NOT highlighted ever since PT6. i don't have to explain it is a major hassle to check thoroughly every region name that PT suggests to clear from the session while you're working with SFX. many desasters have happened to myself and fellow sound designers this way. you could rely dead on on this command in PT5. those days seem to be over for good. keeping sessions slim while creating SFX has become a nightmare. just imagine you hit o.k. and things you've just created lovingly simply vanish through a hasty keystroke.... if i can locate the general PT6 buglist thread i may post this there again.
regards
kai

Is it worth while downloading and using 6.7cs8 or would I get in a world full of trouble. My system is running on 6.7cs6 (i think...I got lost where I was up to after 6.7cs3 or was it cs2) and seems like it's running fine.
