No sound on PowerBook PROs?
Hello! In spite of using the latest version (PT903) and updating the drivers, I cannot hear any sound when running PT on a PowerBook PRO (Dual Core, lots of RAM). I get no error messages, all the drivers are selectable, but I get no sound (I tried with PTAggregate, Built-in Out and Digi CoreAudio, same result).
Any idea, please, what might have gone wrong? Thanks. Marco |

First thing that comes to mind is to have a look at what's going on in the I/O setup window.

Re: No sound on PowerBook PROs?
PT9 will not work on an Apple Powerbook. It only has a PowerPC processor (G3) and is about 8 years old. PT9 will require a Macbook or Macbook Pro using an Intel Processor. I'm assuming this was a typographical error and you meant Macbook Pro, Yes?

Re: No sound on PowerBook PROs?
I'm sorry, I gave some wrong information. I have a MacBook PRO, running 10.6.8. and a dual Core, 2.93 GHz and lots of RAM. I also tried with a Fireface 400, and still NO SOUND...:-( although I selected all what needed to be (I/O Setup, Audio/Midi, etc., deleted some preferences, restarted the machine, and even lit a candle to the spirits of the PT...!). Nothing.
I then tried PT9 on my mainframe PowerMac and it WORKED, both with local sound, and with the Fireface 400. So it seems there is a problem between PT9 and MacBook. Is anybody experiencing the same difficulty on a MacBook? Thanks a lot in advance. Marco |

Re: No sound on PowerBook PROs?
The problem was solved!
I found that in the Playback Engine Window, if one UNCHECKS the Minimize Additional (I/O Latency)n box, PT starts again to play and produce sound. I do not know why (this is normally done when the computer is old, says the Doc, which is obviously not my case), this is probably a bug, but it works! Hope I will understand one day why...! |
