LE and HD on same system?
Hi folks!
for some reason, I prefer using RTAS VIs etc in my 7.4 LE system with Digi002R. Can I install LE and HD1 side-by-side in the same system? Perhaps using LE for RTAS and VI programming, then bounce to audio, and finish vocals in HD? I did a search on the forums, but none of the results made sense! More confusing, if anything. thanks!

Re: LE and HD on same system?
I vaguely remember being able to run LE software on HD hardware in the past!?
I am actually curious to see if this is still possible with PT8. I would love to use PTHD8 to track "live" instruments. Then finnish up production with VI's and mix in RTAS. I always noticed that mixing TDM-plugs with RTAS plugs is some what cumbersome. |

Re: LE and HD on same system?
yeah. I'm not even thinking that complex.
I'll be running PT LE with my Digi002R on it's own, working with RTAS VIs and stuff....then exporting stems. Close PT LE... then open PT HD with my 96i/o, import the audio stems, then finish vocals and mix TDM. I guess there aren't any issues installing both versions of PT on the same system? There won't be some weird plugin/prefs sharing screw up or anything?

I posted a similar question a while back and a DIGI tech responded very quickly to me. You cannot have both LE and HD on the same system as they have conflicting resources. What you can do is to run two hard disks, one with HD and the other with LE and both, of course, with their own system. You can then boot up into whichever disk depending on what you want to work on. As both disks will be mounted you can then directly import audio files from one disk to the other (HD - LE or visa versa). Hope this helps. Cheers Craig |

Re: LE and HD on same system?
Darn!! I'm not sure how I'd handle booting into two mac systems and Win xp (bootcamp)...I might as well just leave it as it is.
Thanks Craig!

Re: LE and HD on same system?
There is a way to do this. I have forgotton the exact procedure. Dual booting would of course work but it could be done with one disk as I recall. You may be limited to HD and MPowered though and not LE.
As I recall the procedure went something like this. Install HD. Drag PT HD related files to the desktop. Remove HD hardware. Connect MAudio hardware. Install MPowered. Drag HD files back and Reinstall HD hardware. Choose which PT system to launch by clicking the appropriate icon. You probably will have to disconnect the MAudio interface when using HD. Maybe DTS will stop in and explain the correct procedure. As I recall this was unsupported by Digi but known to work. This question has been asked enough times that it would be nice to see this explained somewhere in the support section of the Digi website.

Re: LE and HD on same system?
Yes it can be done... depending on your hardware..
http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=229089 There's a Knowledge Base article about this as well BTW http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...&categoryid=34 Note - if you have an Expansion HD you will have to physically remove the PCIe card for LE to startup. Rail
