Default Newbie Question: Midi keyboard is not playing plugins

Hi there please excuse my lack of knowlegde as regards to the following question:
Ok Ive placed the B4 Native instruments plugin into inserts, which opens up and thats fine. However when I try to play the instrument with my midi keyboard (M-Audio, Axiom 25) I dont get any results. Ive downloaded the m-=audio software for midi keyboard, enabled the midi in the Native Instruments software, but still it doesnt seem to patch through. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
K.

No Audio from your Virtual Instrument? I think I know what the problem is....

Make sure that you have an AUDIO INPUT ASSIGNED to the AUX INPUT / INSTRUMENT track for your Virtual Instrument otherwise the instrument will not sound.

Just in case...

An input assignment is created by selecting one of your hardware interfaces inputs (such as Analog 1 & 2) at the Mixer Channel Input tab. The TAB is located above the Mixer Channel Pan sliders and Automation Mode tab (just North of the fader).

The default input setting on Instrument tracks is usually "No Input", which oddly enough, prevents many virtual instruments (at least NI and Spectrasonics) from sounding.

This feature was implemented recently (7.3?). So, many people who are used to working without even thinking about this Input assignment setting for instruments were thrown off by it.

Hope that helps.
