Default Best wine for mixing in ProTools?

Right now I'm enjoying a nice Australian Shiraz... but I wonder what else folks are using for a good mixing wine? Is the vintage/analog thing in here, European style? Or maybe some of you west-coast cats can recommend some good local varietals? Now if I can only avoid overmixing the violins... sigh, I always end up so emotional...

Try the Coppola Cabernet Sauvignon - straight from Napa valley (worth a visit if you live out west).

Anything as criical as mixing demands the real thing. In a red thet would be French. Of late I prefer a hearty Cote Du Rhone. I've found a very nice example, a 2000 vintage Perrin Reserve. It has peppery aromas, black cherry, cassis and spice flavors and a long, complex finish..... oh hey, what were we talking about? Mixing or wine or something.......? (hic!)

Phil - stay away from the Rosemount Grenache... I end up with an empty bottle and the peak leds on across the board!

Faustino VII 1999, Spain. Smooths out my mixes like nothing else ;-). Mostly used for light jazz mixes, R&B & pop.

LaMoneda, Chile. This wine put the F in Funk. Also nice for blues/soul mixes.

Blossom Hill, USA. For rock´n roll, this is the perfect mixing wine. Raw, but delicate.

Hmmmm.. Samplin' a little Mad Dog 20/20 with this cheap *****ed Kansas City Blues stuff I'm mixing tonite.

Can't tell whether the headache is coming from the cheap wine or the annoying harp player.

Oh well, I'll leave the good stuff for you cultured folks. I'll stick with the twist off cap. *hic*

Hey lynnnxxx, where do you get your vintage 2000 Perrin reserve? I get mine from Trader Joe's, and that's my current favorite wine too!!
