Default Simultaneous i/o in Ultimate

Hi All. I can't seem to find an answer to this on the forums.

Currently running 2023.12 Studio with no problems. Thinking about Ultimate.

With Pro Tools Ultimate how many Total Inputs and Outputs from the software can be used without HDX cards? I.E with Core audio or ASIO? On the Avid comparisons site, it says 256 recording inputs with Core audio/ASIO, but doesn't mention outputs. I have attached an image for reference with the confusing part circled in red.

If somebody could let me know, that would be great. Thanks

It just costs money... times do feel like a couple of hundred channels is yesterday's 32 channel system. Interface vendors must love Dolby.

You can get there with MTRX/DAD boxes with Thunderbolt, other high-end DANTE and MADI boxes, 390 channel RME HDSPe MADI FX cards, etc.

High end Dante or MADI environments may have all this stuff sloshing around on the networks already... in which case getting onto the network at such scale is not stupid expensive.

Yesterday's MIX systems offered up to 64 i/o. In those days LE systems were max 18 i/o (limited by hardware dongle called 001/002/003). Somehow records were being made

The audio world isn’t only about music recording.

Awesome. So essentially, if I purchase something like a rednet PCIe card which is 128 x 128 Dante channels, I can send directly out of Ultimate 128 channels of Dante audio? Thanks
